Chiatura

Chiatura - is an industrial city located inland on the banks of the Qvirila River in the Georgia’s province of Imereti.
After intense explorations it was discovered that there are several layers of commercially exploitable manganese oxide. Huge deposits of the manganese ore from the Chiatura mines has been exported to many countries worldwide.

The Aragvi River

The Aragvi River and its basin are running along the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia. The Zhinvali Dam, that was built on Aragvi river in 1986, and its 130 MW hydro-electric power station generate much of Georgia’s electric power, form the Zhinvali Reservoir, on the north-western shores of which rises the Ananuri castle with its 17th-century Church of the Assumption.

The Katskhi pillar

The Katskhi pillar or the Pillar of Life and a symbol of the True Cross is a natural limestone monolith located in the village of Katskhi in western Georgian region of Imereti, near the town of Chiatura. It is approximately 40 metres (130 ft) high.
